A typical Bloomfield Players production costs about $25,000 to stage. But only about two-thirds of this amount is raised from ticket sales. The rest must come from other sources, including concession sales, program advertising, and fees paid by cast members.

In addition, there are administrative costs to the organization, including rental for our costume storage facility, newsletter production and mailing, and this website.

Note that no one takes any profit out of Bloomfield Players, and all administrative personnel, including officers and members of the Board of Directors, are unpaid volunteers.

To pay our administrative expenses and to help cover production costs, BP members conduct various kinds of fundraising throughout the year. For several years, our principal fundraising activity was to staff the Bloomfield Hills Recreation Department's "Haunted Forest" held in past Octobers.

Occasionally, especially during rehearsals, we coordinate with area restaurants, such as Fuddruckers and Olga's Kitchen, for members and friends to get together for an evening, with BP receiving a small percentage of the restaurant's sales.

For several years, we have participated in the "scrips" program through Great Lakes Scrips Center. Scrips are negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash.

Recently we have conducted several "Millionaire Parties," under license with the Charitable Gaming Division of the Michigan Bureau of Lottery.

If you would like to help with our fundraising activities, either by participating or with a bright new idea, please e-mail us.
